Necklace watches are so uncommon these days that it’s hard to imagine that they were the original watches. The precursor to the pocket watch was a clunky but luxurious 16th-century timepiece — more reliable in impressing the royal courts of Europe than clocking the exact time — that dangled on a chain around the necks of only the very wealthy. The first such watch was invented in 1510. This model was much smaller than any other timepiece and was compact enough to be worn. However, it was not yet worn inside the pocket at this time, but rather as a pendant on a chain around the neck.

Add a touch of class to any look with the stunning pendant watches by Jaipur Watch Company. A ladies pendant watch makes a lovely, understated alternative to the traditional pocket watch, with a smaller, more demure design that is flattering while making an elegant impression. A pendant watch is ideally suited to be worn around the neck in a necklace style.

Jaipur Watch Company is known to make wristwatches with coins from the period of King George VI, the last Emperor of British India. The dial of this exquisite Pendant Watch is made out of an actual Postal Stationery Envelope featuring One and a Half Anna postal stamp value from the British India era.

The body of this neckwear is made out of sterling silver, having a Victorian style of design using enamel artwork. Enamelwork is a technique of decoration where metal objects or surfaces are given a vitreous glaze that is fused onto the surface by intense heat to create a brilliantly colored decorative effect. It is an art form noted for its brilliant, glossy surface, which is hard and long-lasting.

NOTE: The chain is NOT included with the Pendant Watch.
